A hearing impaired student of the Cuttington University in Liberia, Kollie, faces a devastating reality of dropping out of school, amidst plans of graduating in the following year, due to an unexpected revocation of his USAID-sponsored scholarship. He stated in an interview that his hope of becoming a certified teacher will be cut off, in the event that he receives no financial assistance to continue his education, when school reopens.
Kollie happens to be one of the numerous students who are affected by the abrupt revocation of the USAID scholarships, which aided such students with their academic pursuits. Academic freedom is thus curtailed to a large extent, when beneficiaries are unable to complete their programs due to such unfortunate circumstances.
