A female university student  of the University of Tripoli, tragically died after being compelled to sit for an examination despite having a serious medical condition. However, the Student Union has condemned the incident, accusing faculty leadership of abuse of authority, intimidation, and failure to exercise discretion or compassion in handling vulnerable students.

Comments/Recommendations
ACAF is deeply alarmed by this avoidable tragedy, which underscores the urgent need for institutions to adopt humane, student-centered policies. Academic regulations must allow flexibility in cases involving medical or psychological vulnerabilities. Universities must establish clear protocols for medical exemptions and train staff on compassionate decision-making. An independent disciplinary inquiry into the actions of the implicated faculty members must be conducted without delay, and Regulation 501 should be reviewed to ensure it aligns with international standards on student rights, health, and academic welfare. Ensuring students’ well-being must be prioritized above rigid administrative formalities.
